Sicklemoon's Needs Altar
Brynedd Sicklemoon frequently receives requests from friends,
coveners, and family members in need of healing, calming energy, and protection.
Many of these requests are for the safety of loved ones serving abroad in the U.S. armed forces. These
requests come as telephone calls, emails, and personal contacts. If
Brynedd spent much time on each one, she'd never get any sleep!
Brynedd set up a "needs
altar" based on a suggestion and description found in one of Maggie Shayne's
Book of Shadows contributions to
Witch Moon Rising, Witch Moon Waning.
The needs altar seen here is a small table (about 8x8
inches and 18 inches tall) purchased for less than $10. Bearing a design
similar to a Pennsylvania Dutch hex symbol for abundance, the table sits
at the family hearth (fireplace!). The little cauldron was an antique
store find for $3. The vase was a gift that holds a special meaning.
Brynedd keeps a single flower--often from her garden--in the vase at all
times. Whenever she receives a request, she writes the name on a piece of paper
and places it in the cauldron. Once a day, she lights the candle for a few
minutes to send energy to those in need.
